An extract from the Commercial Register is one of the key documents used by an authorized person to verify the information recorded in the RPVS and to identify the ultimate beneficial owner. In the following article, we therefore provide a simple guide on where and how to obtain an extract that is valid for legal purposes.
To properly verify the identity of the ultimate beneficiary of a public sector partner and to verify the accuracy, currency, and completeness of the data recorded in the public sector partner registry (performing the so-called verification), it is necessary, pursuant to the public sector partner’s legal obligation to cooperate with the authorized person, to also submit the documents on the basis of which the authorized person will perform this verification.
The necessary documents include, among other things, a current extract from the commercial register of the public sector partner that is valid for legal purposes. An extract from the commercial register is a document containing the data recorded in the commercial register as of the date the extract was issued. The Commercial Register is a public register in which data prescribed by law concerning commercial companies, cooperatives, or natural persons—entrepreneurs—are recorded. It contains data such as the business name, registered office, identification number, scope of business, statutory body, amount of registered capital, and other details, the scope of which is established by Act No. 530/2003 Coll. on the Commercial Register and on Amendments to Certain Acts, as amended.
Information from the Commercial Register is also publicly available on the website www.orsr.sk. However, please note! Such an extract from the Commercial Register obtained from the website is not admissible for legal purposes; it is for informational purposes only. This warning is also located at the bottom of the extract.
